About the Journal
Ecos de la Academia Journal is a scientific publication of the Faculty of Education, Science, and Technology, edited and funded by Universidad Técnica del Norte in Ibarra, Ecuador. It undergoes a double-blind online review and publishes articles in Spanish, Kichwa, Portuguese, and English. The journal is issued semiannually (January–June and July–December). The works published are original, unpublished, and meet high scientific quality and rigor, produced by both national and international researchers and professionals.
Ecos de la Academia accepts a maximum of five authors per article, each of whom must have an ORCID registration. The entire review and publication process is free and open-access, following the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Types of Submissions Published
The writings may fall into the following categories: Research Articles, Review Articles, Essays, Technical Notes, Book Reviews, and Editor's Notes.
Research Articles
Present original results from scientific research. These articles should include: Title and authors with their affiliation and institutional email, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgments, References, Tables, and Figures. Articles should be between 5,000 and 9,000 words, including references; exceptions may allow for longer submissions.
Review Articles
Focus on a specific scientific topic and provide a critical analysis of at least 20 articles. The structure includes an Introduction, Development (author’s viewpoints), Discussion, Conclusion, and References. Articles should be between 5,000 and 9,000 words, including references.
Essays
Scientific investigations presenting the author's ideas and opinions, supported by arguments and bibliographic review. The essay should offer strong conclusions to inspire further studies. Essays should be between 2,000 and 3,000 words.
Technical Notes
Describe the state of a technical problem or report ongoing research. Recommended sections include: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and References. Articles should be between 2,000 and 3,000 words.
Book Reviews
Analyze one or more scientific works and their relevance to research. Reviews should be between 2,000 and 3,000 words.
Editor's Notes
Written by the Editor to clarify topics or announce important updates. The aim is to establish communication between readers and the Editorial Board. The word limit is 1,000 words.

Frequency: Semiannual (June and December) with continuous publication.
Ethics Code
The journal adheres to the publication ethics guidelines defined by COPE (Code of Conduct and Best Practices Guidelines for Journal Editors). This document is based on the established standards of Good Publication Practices.
Plagiarism Detection
The journal uses Turnitin to validate all manuscripts.
- Similarity below 20%, respecting third-party copyrights: accepted.
- Similarity below 20%, but with copyright violations: returned for corrections.
- Similarity between 20% and 50%: returned for modifications.
- Similarity above 50%: rejected.
Access and Reuse Policies
Ecos de la Academia Journal provides immediate open access to its content under the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), allowing free and unrestricted use as long as the source is properly cited.
The journal promotes Open Access, ensuring free access to research results for maximum visibility. Articles may be archived by authors in personal or institutional repositories, social networks, and academic platforms with a link to the journal's webpage and full citation of the work.
Processing and Submission Costs
Authors do not have to make any financial contributions for the management and publication of their manuscripts, as the journal is funded by Universidad Técnica del Norte.
Digital Preservation Policies
The journal uses LOCKSS and CLOCKSS for digital archiving. All published issues are also stored in the university's digital library repository.
